Universal Infant Free School Meals
Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) was introduced to all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 from September 2014. This was part of the School Food Plan, a series of recommendations published in July 2013 which encourage schools to consider all aspects of growing, cooking and eating healthy food.
The B&NES Food Forum worked very hard during 2014, supporting our Infant and Primary schools to get ready for the increase in hot meals provision. There is already a lot of good practice and great ideas in place and we made a short film to show how common problems can be resolved. So, if you want to find out how to reduce noise, queuing and make the dining experience even more sociable and pleasant, have a look!
A big 'Thank you!' to all the schools that took part.
